Home & School Association

The Gilbert Avenue Home & School Association (GHSA) is an organization of parents or legal guardians of children currently attending Gilbert Avenue School.  Our mission is to enrich and enhance our children’s educational experience.

The GHSA is proud to have sponsored many educational programs throughout the years.  The children have met authors and have been given the opportunity to study animals and the environment.  They have traveled to space, across the United States and to the depths of the ocean, all without stepping outside the walls of Gilbert Avenue School.

The annual Book Fair and Holiday Bazaar (the children’s favorite) are also sponsored by the GHSA.  During each school year, the GHSA provides funds for three special classroom holiday programs. Each child’s cost of their class trip is also substantially subsidized by the GHSA.  Our 5th graders celebrate their final year at Gilbert Avenue with yearbooks, special t-shirts, an extra trip, a dance, and a luncheon largely funded by the GHSA.

In order to provide these opportunities to our children, the GHSA sponsors several fund-raisers throughout the year.  The GHSA can only maintain this level of enrichment with continued support of our fund-raisers as well as parental involvement.  We invite you to join the GHSA and welcome your participation and suggestions.  There is no set amount of participation required and any involvement would be genuinely appreciated by our organization, the teachers and staff, and most of all the students of Gilbert Avenue School.
