
Counselor's Corner
The school counselor provides the following:
Individual, Small Group, and Whole Class Counseling to enhance developmental areas such as coping skills, friendship skills, anger management skills, study skills, and self-esteem.
Counseling support for students experiencing a crisis.
Referrals to community resources.
Consultation with staff and parents regarding student’s social, emotional, academic, or behavioral concerns.
Students are referred to the counseling program by their parents, teachers, individual education plan or the school principal. The counselor is scheduled at Gantner Avenue School on Monday (all day) and Thursday (A.M.). Our counselor can be reached by calling the main office at 201-796-8700.
Fall is here!!
Welcome to
the 2008-2009 school year!! This fall, the students at Gantner Avenue School will
be participating in activities centered on Red Ribbon Week and School Violence
Awareness Week. To help celebrate Red Ribbon Week, the students will be
receiving materials including red ribbons, stickers, and pencils. During October,
she will be visiting each classroom and will be speaking with the students
about important topics such as ways to say no to peer pressure, how to respond
to bullying, Halloween safety tips and strategies to handle a situation without
using violence. Please speak with your children at home to reinforce the
importance of these skills!! Thank you.
