2007 - 2008

Welcome back to another great year at Gantner Avenue School.  I hope that you had a wonderful and enjoyable summer.  We are very excited about our new building and can’t wait for you to see it.

At Gantner Avenue School, students come first! We are extremely proud of the quality of the education being offered.  Our staff is conscientious, enthusiastic, and highly motivated. We provide students with experiences, which concentrate on building self-esteem; promote a positive attitude in all areas of the curriculum; improve thinking skills; establish a greater appreciation for learning; and create an environment conducive to the sharing of ideas and working cooperatively. Our programs are designed to enhance student participation, generate student interest, provide for individual differences, and prepare students for the NJASK and Terra Nova II tests.

Teachers will continue to be trained in the areas of technology, reading, writing, and mathematics developing strategies and activities used across the curriculum at all grade levels. Our curriculum correlates with the New Jersey Core Content Standards.  Each year, the staff participates in a wide range of workshops and conferences throughout each school year.

Parents are very involved and always welcome at the Gantner Avenue School.  Numerous formal and informal parent-teacher conferences take place on a regular basis.  Parents serve on committees which develop, implement, and monitor the school’s annual objectives.

The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is very active and supportive throughout each school year.  Fundraising by the PTO finances assembly programs and many of our field trips throughout each school year.   A PTO Fifth Grade Committee plans events that ease the transition to middle school and brings a positive closure to their elementary school experience.

In conclusion, we are fortunate to have an extremely dedicated staff that works tirelessly toward meeting the needs of the students at Gantner Avenue School.  I look forward to seeing you at many of our school events that have been scheduled throughout the 2007-2008 school year.
