MRS. BURNISTON’S
CLASS
Pencils, crayons, scissors, glue
Happy hearts and smiles too!
These are the things that we bring to school
To
learn ABC’s and the golden rule.
Full day kindergarten is underway
at Gantner Avenue School. The school
tools in our supply boxes can tell a short story about what’s in store for the
upcoming year. Our new crayons will help
to make our year bright and colorful; the sharpened pencils will be useful in
helping to sharpen our reading, writing, and math skills; our scissors will be
cutting and shaping a successful year of learning; and our glue will help make
all the lessons “stick”.
Once again, as I venture into my
sixteenth year of teaching, I look forward to another exciting, successful, and
fun-filled school year.

Miss Sabina’s Class
I would like to welcome all my kindergarten
students to a world of learning. Our
class is busy building new friendships and learning the classroom rules. We start each day with a “morning meeting”
which includes posting the date on the calendar, observing the days of the
week, reciting the alphabet, and counting to twenty. We also dress our classroom frog
appropriately for the current weather.
Our class is beginning to learn
about letters, rhyming words, and mathematics. In October, we will be learning
about fall, Columbus Day, and fire safety.
Have a safe and
happy fall!
Miss Sabina

Miss Aken’s Pre-K
Disabled Class
I want to welcome the Pre-K students to our school. They are adjusting very nicely to their new
school and class. They are becoming
familiar with the structure of the school day and are enjoying the time they
spend with their peers and teachers. As
a class we have “Circle Time” everyday in which we update our calendar, recite
the days of the week, discuss the weather, listen to poems, sing songs, and
listen to stories. We also have fun during “Music and Movement.” This is something that the students are
really enthusiastic about. The students also like the experiences they gain
from the "Centers"; which are done on a daily basis. We have been learning about the season of
fall and all the changes that will occur. We will be constructing projects as
part of our thematic unit on the season of fall.
We are off to a great start! I
just know our students are going to have a very successful year!
