Mrs. Kittaneh’s Grade 1 Happenings
Welcome back to a new school year! I am pleased to see such bright shining
faces. This year has begun well! We’ve reviewed the beginning sounds, begun reading
using short vowel sounds and continue to build sight words daily. Using these skills, the students have started
writing sentences to describe their thoughts.
Wow! It always amazes me how
excited they become when they can read what they are writing!
On the Math spectrum, we are beginning
the basic addition and subtraction facts, reading and interpreting graphs and
beginning to read word problems to apply their problem solving skills. We will begin expanding on the concepts as we
master the basic facts.
Social Studies began with school rules,
families and identifying where we live.
Science has begun with changing seasons, identifying and experiencing
National Apple Month and plant life.
Lastly, Health has started with getting to know you, self esteem and
learning all about me! As you can see,
we’ve been very busy bees!
