Mrs. Costanzo is happy to welcome her class to the 2008-2009 school year. This promises to be a very busy and exciting year. The students are busy learning the daily routines and are cooperating in making their classroom an inviting place to learn.
Students this year will be working on a multisensory approach to learning. Preventing Academic failure is a special curriculum designed to incorporate phonics, reading, handwriting, and spelling. Students will be learning at individual levels.
In math, students are developing their skills with addition and subtraction on individual levels. Students are challenged daily with the problem of the day. They are learning the importance of showing all their work and labeling their answers.
In science, the students have begun a unit on vertebrates. They are learning how to categorize animals based on characteristics. They will discuss the life cycle of animals and the food chain.
In social studies students are learning about land and water forms. They will be concentrating on map skills and learning about all the places they live in. The students are working hard and are encouraged to read daily at home.
Have a great year!
