Fall 2008

The fifth graders are very excited about the upcoming, educational school year.  This year is filled with so many challenging and interesting lessons.  The fifth grade gives students the foundation which they need, in order to become independent learners.

We already began to write short stories, how-to paragraphs and sequence writings.  All along, the students are editing their own work!  They all have such creative ideas to put into writing!

From place value to long division, the students will be solving mathematical problems from every angle.  They will integrate everyday math skills with real-life issues.

In science class, the students will be introduced to the world of cells!  From plant and animal to blood cells, the fifth graders will be exploring the human body and its functions!

With the exciting November election around the corner, the students will be participating in a mock election of their own.  They will learn, discuss and even debate governmental issues!

The fifth grade is a year of fun, change and excitement.  We can’t wait to see the students grow and learn each and every day!
